HOW LONG IS A TRAIN P3 SESSION?
PRIVATE TRAINING sessions are 60 minutes
SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING sessions are 60 – 75 minutes (as specified)
GROUP CLASSES are 60-90 minutes (as specified)
We encourage you to show up 5 – 15 minutes early before any session to meet other athletes, breathe, foam roll, stretch and mentally prepare for your session. You are also welcome to stay after to do the same. Please be respectful of athletes training after you.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY TRAIN P3 SESSION?
Any clothing you feel comfortable sweating and moving in is fine. Breathable, athletic wear is great.
Athletic shoes. Cross trainers or any flat shoes with some lateral support are best. We encourage minimal shoes. You may do some TRAIN P3 drills barefoot or in socks. If you are scheduled to practice Olympic weightlifting, bring your weightlifting shoes (if you have them). We like most minimal shoes on the market as long as they are flat (no heal elevation), flexible and have some basic lateral support. We often use Vivo Barefoot, but there are many other shoes that could work. Find what works well with your unique foot.
Water bottles and protein shakes are available at the facility for purchase. Showers are available at all facilities except when we train outdoors. Towels rentals are also available. Bring your own lock to Velocity Sports.
Feel free to bring snacks for post-workout meals.
IT’S MY FIRST TRAIN P3 SESSION, SHOULD I DO A PRIVATE OR SEMI-PRIVATE OR GROUP?
If you have good body awareness and have no major injuries, you can jump into any of our SEMI-PRIVATE or GROUP TRAINING sessions. If you have special needs, injuries, have not strength trained for a prolonged period of time, or feel de-conditioned, please set up a PRIVATE TRAINING session first.
NONE OF THE SEMI-PRIVATE SESSION TIME SLOTS WORK FOR ME. WILL YOU HAVE ANY NEW CLASSES?
We encourage you to start your own SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING sessions with friends that have similar goals or fitness levels. Please contact us if the time you are looking for is not already on the schedule.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Whatever you feel comfortable sweating and moving in (clean is a plus!). Athletic shoes. Cross trainers or any flat shoes with some lateral support are best. We like minimal shoes. We often use Vivo Barefoot, but find what works well with your unique foot. You might also do some drills barefoot or in socks. If you are scheduled to practice Olympic lifts, bring your weightlifting shoes (if you have them).
IS THERE A PLACE TO SHOWER OR CHANGE BEFORE/AFTER SESSION?
If you are doing your private semi-private or group session at Velocity Sports Performance, you will have access to lockers, bathrooms, and a full locker room to change and store your belongings. Feel free to bring a lock if you want to leave them in a locker. Towels are available or you can bring your own. Fit Factory NYC has changing rooms, showers and towels. The outdoor group sessions are near bathrooms, but no showers are available.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M RUNNING LATE?
If you are up to 15 minutes late to a SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING session, it’s up to the coach to decide if they will let you join the group. If you are late to a PRIVATE TRAINING session, please email, text or call the coach personally to let them know you are running late. We will not reschedule your session and the session will end on it’s original scheduled time. If the coach can stay later, there will be a $50 fee added for an additional half hour of a private session.
No matter how late you are to a PRIVATE TRAINING session, we advise you to show up. We can work on technique of a specific exercise, focus on stretching, breathing, or stress reduction techniques. Doing something is better than skipping the session.
CAN I JUST DROP IN TO ANY CLASS? DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP IN ADVANCE?
We do not accept drop-ins. You can register for group class at any time if there is room left. Semi-private and Private training session registration closes 12 hours before the session which gives our coaches the chance to individualize the session and plan their day. SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING sessions only have 2 – 4 people and they do fill up! So REGISTER in advance.
I AM WORRIED I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR TRAIN P3 SESSIONS YET.
That is exactly why you should TRAIN P3. If your training does not make you a little nervous, it’s probably not challenging you. We don’t care how out of shape you are. We are not interested in either making you feel bad or embarrassing you. You will find us to be kind and supportive as we push you past your mental and physical limits. Train P3 Private training has no pre-requisites. For Group and Semi-Private session pre-requisites, check above.
We do however, expect you to challenge yourself and try your best while staying safe. If you are unable to keep up, most likely because you have serious injuries, we will refer you to another professional.
HOW MANY TRAIN P3 SESSIONS DO I NEED?
Some clients continuously use our services multiple times per week or when training for a specific event. Some check in once every six weeks for a new program. Or consult us once every few months for their lifestyle planning.
How long or how often you train with us depends entirely on your goals, how quickly your body responds, and how much effort you are willing to put into your training and lifestyle.
THE RULES FOR TRAIN P3:
1. FORM AND SAFETY COME FIRST.
The objective of any Train P3 session is to help you learn and improve without injuries. Your journey is unique and we want you to go at your own speed to stay safe and get the best results. We ask that you focus on quality over quantity and stick to precise form, to get the best results and prevent nagging injuries. It is essential for you to listen to your body, practice awareness and know your limits. If you feel pain or are unable to perform the movement correctly, please get your coach’s attention (especially in a group setting) so they can modify the exercise.
2. CHALLENGE YOURSELF.
In Train P3 sessions we will challenge you physically and mentally. Concentration, patience and mental toughness are skills possessed by all great athletes. And just like any skill, practice will make you better. We want you to GO THERE with us and step outside of your comfort zone so you can experience the best results; build a stronger physique and character.
3. BRING YOUR BEST ENERGY.
We believe that training should be FUN! Not only will you enjoy yourself, you will learn new skills easier, make more friends and stay more consistent. If you don’t feel well, take deep breaths, and maintain upbeat body language. We will not judge or look down on you if you are not in your best shape, but we will definitely frown upon bad attitude. We believe that the way you do one thing is the way you do everything! Every Train P3 session is your opportunity to practice being the best and strongest version of you.
